The Hotel

A sleek and modern showpiece rises up from the history-rich streets of this storied Icelandic capital city. Ion City is housed in a smartly renovated building that retains its original architectural beauty. Designed by Minarc, the Icelandic architectural duo who also worked on the sister Ion Adventure property, the hotel is a proud showcase of national themes and design, with interiors that make clever references to all things Icelandic. The lobby, for example, imitates the countryside with a real birch tree behind the reception desk and a custom-designed “bird’s nest” light hanging from the ceiling.
